A Touch of The Seychelles by Claude Pavard
This impressive documentary is an artistic approach to
the many interesting and admirable traits of the various
Seychellois islands. To increase downloading accessibility,
the program has been conveniently separated into four parts.
Each portion maintains a non-commercial approach to the
many social, spiritual, and natural aspects of this "Eden-like"
society.
Seychelles Part I
This segment focuses on the various points
of why both now and historically the Seychelles have
been an important point of interest for the world.
Our visit includes a personal tale of an original
Administrator of Silhouette Island re-visiting
his home after 18 years. Despite the expanse of time,
both boat making and copra (or coconut) production
remain barely changed, while the notoriety of
the largest tourist beach, Beau Vallon, increases worldwide.

Seychelles Part II
The second segment begins with a visit to the beach sites
and bird sanctuaries of the islands of Cousin, Aride and Bird Island.
The narrator tells an interesting story of the locally grown world famous
Coco de Mer; as well as the extinction of various unique
birds in the area.
A dive segment begins at Desroche which will continue into part 3.

Seychelles Part III
This portion is a highlight for those seeking the natural wonders of
the rarely visited Farquhar Islands. Beginning with a deep-sea fishing trip, we
then find ourselves on the bird sanctuary island of Desneuf.
Next, on the Farquhar Islands we observe the local fishermen with the daily
catch and process procedure. The culture of these islands depends upon the fish industry
for survival. Tourists today visit these islands for the exceedingly diverse
wildlife which almost always includes the giant tortoise.
This part also describes the copra industry on Farquhar Island.
It therafter goes onto Cosmoledo, and the giant atoll of Aldabra,
also known as Darwin's Island, explaining the
geological creation of the atoll.

Seychelles Part IV
An information filled segment on specific species, habits
and background of various giant tortoise clans. Most differences
between clans result from geographic diversity.
This documentary is inspiring to help one become part of the preservation
of this sanctuary. Today, Aldabra is a UNESCO protected world heritage site,
which hosts the largest living colony of giant land tortoises.
